Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival when people pray for lord Ganesha for success in all endeavors nd prosperity throughout life. Ganesha is regarded as the God of wisdom and anyone who worships him will be free from all sorts of 'vighna' or troubles. he is also known as 'Vighna harn' means the one who sweeps away all your troubles. Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the major festivals of India especially in Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh. The life-like clay model of Lord Ganesha is prepared to worship and all this starts 2-3 months prior to the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. People in Maharastra and Andhra also make gigantic models of clay of Lord Ganesha.
During this festival the idol is kept on raised platforms. Many people celebrate it in their homes. While many place these idols in decorated sheds outdoor in the streets so that other people can also pay their homage to the Mangalkari lord Ganesha. for people to view and pay their homage. The priest start the puja or the ceremony by chanting Vedic hymns from the Rig Veda and Ganapati Atharva Shirsha Upanishad followed by Ganesh ji ki aarti.
Ganesh is worshipped for a total 10 days. Starting from Bhadrapad Shudh Chaturthi to the Ananta Chaturdashi.
It is said that one should meditate or at least repeat the stories connected to Lord Ganesha. If one practice this in Brahma muhurta period or early it is great. One should take bath and go to temple and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. Offer Him some coconut and sweet pudding laddus, which after the puja can be treated as 'prasad'. Ganesha removes all your troubles and obstacles.
