Gandhi Jayanti
Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on the occasion of his birthday, which is also registered as our national holiday. Mahatma Gandhi is known as the "Father of the Nation". It is celebrated on October 2, every year. This is one of the most important national holidays and is observed in all over India including its Union territories.
.The day starts with paying tribute to the father of the nation, especially at Raj Ghat, Gandhi's memorial in New Delhi where he was cremated. Gandhi jayanti is also popular among politicians. Every government offices and schools and colleges are closed in this day as a way to pay homage to Gandhi Ji. Some of the popular celebration includes prayer meetings. Gandhi ji's favorite song ' raghupati raghab raja raam...' is also sung by people throughout the nation.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is his full name. He was a qualified advocate who left his job in South Africa to join the Independence Struggle in India against the British. He is one of the greatest contributors to the independence of India. Gandhi ji followed the path of truth and 'Ahimsa'(non-violence). He also preached everyone to follow the same path. Gandhiji's 'Satyagraha' movement for the Indian freedom struggle will always be remembered ever after. He was a great leader who had a nation to follow him. He led a very simple life. He proved the world to achieve anything as difficult as independence from the rulers through the path of truth and non-violence.
